The Relationship between Parental Acceptance-Rejection and the Academic Performance of Fourth and Fifth GradersThis study uses a sample of 220 fourth and fifth grade boys and girls in the Washington, D.C. area to explore the relationship between chil dren's perceptions of parental warmth/rejection and their academic per formance. Scores on the Parental Acceptance-Rejection Questionnaire rep resent children's perception of parental acceptance-rejection. Measures of academic performance include Science Research Associate (SRA) achieve ment test scores and grade point averages. The data demonstrate a direct and positive relationship between children's perception of parental warmth and their SRA scores and grade point average.
